Thanksgiving Sketches

chalkboardin'

I did a bunch of sketching during Thanksgiving, but I don't have them here. So, in the meantime, some sketches from October, using our home chalkboard.

Chicagoing

Went to Chicago for a mini-vacation this past weekend with Stacey. I didn't get to sketch much, but here's the little I did.

Outside a tea cafe near where Billy Elliot is playing.

The next two are ideas for images for The Glass Menagerie. I want Stacey to use artists to do the images for the brochure/postcard.

Sketches of people waiting at the airport, and then playing with a character based on the guy.

Soccer Sunday

Inspired by the last soccer game of the season, where Rocketboy scored two goals. Also, for no reason, a dragon head.

Saturday Night Sketches

Trying to find the Stacey character.

Staceysketch

I like drawing her. Not because I'm good at it, but it gives me an excuse to stare at her picture.

Further theft from Loish.net

Lois Van Baarle (loish.net) has an inspiring site, apparently. Two posts in one day, both copying from her stuff.

I've seen the expression challenge before on deviantart.com, but I really liked hers, as you can see hints of contruction lines. Some of these are direct copies from hers, some are just inspired by her character design.

stolen from loish.net

I came across this really cool painter's website, loish.net. So I sketched a couple of her digital paintings. My drawings first, then the originals, with links.

At Home

A couple of sketches while I'm home with a sick girl... first starting with a ball and stick type model base, and redrawing using ball and stick as a reference, sort of.

Then blatantly copying an image from darkwingsketch.blogspot.com, and rotating her to a front view, loosely.

A Role Model for Girls

Inked...

Before Ink.

Why wasn't it Harriet Potter?

On my project list is a story with a good strong female protagonist that doesn't fret about boys, or relationships... but rather talks and acts on the big ideas in life. Scary Go Round and Bad Machinery did a great job with this.

Who would my Harriet Potter be?

Heads and GWS

I was frustrated with how these heads were turning out. I was trying to vindicate myself from yesterdays sketch, but no dice. So I copied some characters from the beautifully drawn
"Girls With Slingshots" webcomic.
And I used a marker. I should marker more often; they look nicer on the web. I've learned that at least.

Small World

A horribly drawn quickie slice-o-life comic. I'm not trying to be funny here, just practicing comic artistry. Or a lack thereof.

Perhaps I'll try this same comic again tomorrow.

Super Stacey

Part of the webcomic I'm developing will involve a superhero based on Stacey.

She's hard to draw.
