30 Day Drawing Challenge - Day 13 : Comic

All credit for these characters go to James Hance, creator of Wookie the Chew and other hilarious mash-ups/parodies. When I saw his "Amy & Doc" t-shirt, I knew a comic Must Be Made. I'll be surprised if I'm the first.

Surely, you have someone in your life who would love some of his stuff for Xmas. Proceeds go to a good cause: helping cure his "Relentlessly Cheerful" daughter Maddy of a serious intestinal disorder.

30 Day Drawing Challenge - Day 5 : Best Friend

My wife, Stacey. Though drawing her knitting doesn't do her justice, so I went the superheroine route. My son designed her costume, and I went from there.

He dubbed her Super Super Stacey, though I would have preferred a knitting themed name, none of which came to me.

Soccer & Pool

In this blog, I don't just post the nice stuff. There would only be a couple entries if I did that.

I have time while RocketBoy is playing soccer or swimming to do a bit of sketching.

Sketching at Callenwolde

When I take my son to his Young Singers practices at Callenwolde Fine Art Center, I get some time to sketch while he's practicing.

It's a big empty room, generally, with not much to sketch. So, gestures from the mind...

Sketch Dump and Yet Another Drawing Book

Here's a few random sketches from the sketchbook.

These little pillow/sack drawings were inspired by Han Drawn's blog, who is an extremely talented art student.Link

Sketches of kids at the Callenwolde Fine Art Center, and a couple legs drawn from scratch.
I picked up a really good anatomy book, "Human Anatomy Made Amazingly Easy" by C. Hart. I have several drawing anatomy books, but for some reason, this one really clicked. I actually read it cover to cover, which I don't think I've ever done. I think the best part is that I really started thinking about the skeletal structure and how that effects the outward appearance.

Trying to draw a cartoonized version of myself.

Squiggle People

There's an exercise I heard of somewhere where you just scribble some random shapes, and then make something out of it. These are my squiggle people... I close my eyes, scribble, then make sense of it. I'm finding it surprisingly enjoyable.

I was following a youtube video on how to draw Manga eyes, and 4 year old scout wanted to help me with the picture. So I did the eyes, nose, mouth, and she did the head and "body".

Dragons and Hands

Some studies for the Sweetness & The Dragon picture I posted before.

Random baby out of Atlanta Parent Magazine.

My wife's coworker Donna's hands, and a drawing Sweetness did of me drawing.

A poor representation of the full Donna photo. It's a great photo, and I have not yet done it justice.
